Dear Readers
The following flash fiction story was written in response to Rochelle’s FridayFictioneers photo prompt, posted this week (14/03/18 for Friday 16/03/18) by Ted Strutz. MAKE BELIEVE

I’ve always been human shy. I don’t know why. Neither do my family. They tried everything to fix me, shone all their lights on me, but the thought of regarding humans, having my buttons pushed by them, was too much.
All I ever wanted was to open my eye when I chose and capture hidden truths.
I detest being in the spotlight so they banished me here. And yet, beyond this conical sphere of fake adulation, there’s proper darkness: full of butchered beliefs, tortured truths and sulking secrets – all desperate to be revealed.
Thank you, Father, I click then whir.

Excellent story, so inventive- all told through the character of the camera, you include so many reflections to think about. Well done.

very interesting to have the camera’s pov – and at one point I got lost in the writing to where i forgot it was a camera – it was that good. And love CS Lewis but his stuff always makes me – or usually makes me read it a couple times.
nice take on the prompt

Kelvin, great point of view story. The “pushing my buttons”, and “Thank you, Father, I click then whir.” Really bring it home for me. Super story.

Fascinating story about an AI camera, capturing what “he” wanted without human intervention! Love CS Lewis. =)

I love that you made this from the camera’s pov and that the camera not only has the ability to take great pics, but has a lovely way with words as well. 🙂

Haha – yes, I never thought of a camera with an ugly way with words. Perhaps I should do one?

Thanks Roger. Word choice depicts the kind of camera you are. This one is certainly no Olympus Trip (other cameras are available!)

What a powerful take on the glamour industry and celebrity culture as seen by a paparazzo!

Dear Kelvin,
I liked that he didn’t like humans pushing his buttons. I assume we’re reading the thoughts of a robot or some sort of AI? At any rate, an entertaining and thought provoking read. To tell the truth I’m a little human shy myself. 😉
Shalom,
Rochelle
