When Everything Was Too Bright And Loud – Sophie Flynn

Dear Readers

Sophie is an interesting writer whose work I am just discovering. When I read her story How To Make Something From Nothing on The Drabble I sat up and took notice.

The following story from The Cabinet Of Heed is ambitious in style and tone. The emptiness and lop-sided love are haunting. Comments are closed but I recommend you take a peek.

First and foremost I am a reader, then a storyteller. My reading tastes are eclectic. My writing can focus around the intimacy of closed settings and may tend towards characters who might be hiding something from themselves.

  1. Hi Kevin, I’ve just discovered your post – what a lovely surprise! Really appreciate you reading and glad you’ve enjoyed my stories. When Everything Was Too Bright and Loud started out as one of my first short stories and took too many rejections and rewrites to count before The Cabinet of Heed were kind enough to publish it, so it’s lovely to see someone sharing it.

    1. Glad you persevered with this one, Sophie. I really liked your story. I found it and the subject matter rather inspirational. Congratulations on achieving your MA -lots of hard work doing it part-time, but hopefully rewarding in lots of ways. Take care and good luck in all your future submissions, Kelvin.
