About me. Hmm. I would rather keep out of the limelight, remain in the background, on the back page if you will. No photograph certainly. If I craved the attention I would be a pop star, right, or a politician – heaven forbid. I am neither, either, or.

So what am I?

I am an author. I am a writer. A fiction writer. I have been a reviewer. A fiction reviewer. For magazines and newspapers. I am an aspiring novelist. I am a magazine and anthology published and competition winning short story writer. If that sounds  grandiose, I can and will cringe with you. I am lots of things literary, but overall I love words. I love their meaning, their sound, their shape, their texture. I love reading, hearing, and feeling words – those things that are said, those things that are left unsaid. I love dwelling on a story’s meaning, whatever form the story nudges the storyteller to take.

You see, I am a believer. I believe that words do come to life and can bring readers a new  life too. I believe there is power in words. There is certainly a power in words akin to telepathy. I mean, how else can a storyteller’s thoughts and emotions in one place and time, affect a reader in another piece of space and time.

I am going to dedicate this blog post primarily to flash fiction: that prose style where an emotionally charged and fully-formed story is written in one hundred words or less.

If you enjoy my blog posts and would like to share your experiences on reading, reviewing, writing, or blogging, I would be delighted to read them.

  1. I’m in love with words, too. Even your vague “About” inspires me. 🙂 I hope to get into writing flash fiction soon; I’m indulging in my rebirth as a poetess currently.

  2. Hey Kelvin, we met at Lady Calen’s sandbox last week. I was quite taken by your *wording* 🙂 Thanks so much for the follow, fellow word-lover.

  3. Dear Kelvin,

I’m so pleased you decided to make Friday Fictioneers part of your flash fiction exercise. I can tell you’re going to be an important part of little global community.
