Photo Prompt from a few weeks ago by Rochelle Wisoff Fields
Friday Fictioneers is a weekly challenge set by Rochelle Wisoff Fields to write a one hundred word (or less) story in response to a photo prompt. You can find other stories based on this week’s prompt here.
And here is my one hundred word flash fiction offering for today. I know I am going backwards, but I did read the majority of stories on this wonderful prompt first, and was compelled to write a story, and even though the link is now closed, Rochelle kindly gave me permission to post a story without linking it in to that weekly link. And it may or may not answers some of my readers’ comments on yesterdays (my first) Friday Fictioneers story Parking the Shades. Hope this is not too misleading. And I hope you enjoy reading, and commenting, on each others’ flash fiction stories and mine – if you are so moved. Thank you for stopping by.
FINDING THE SHADE

Day after day she watched, people, different people, moving the same way: through shadows that clung to the alleyway’s daylight.
When she tried following in their footsteps, they followed her. She knew not where she was going. Her feet trod these cracked paving slabs with a purpose that was theirs alone.
Their shadows for her lack of a shadow. Their sense of self became her sense of being. Their worries and their fears merged. So many fears, flowing into her, gushing through her, whereupon the cracks in these pavements splintered her lengthening shadows and allowed their strengthening light to enter.

I stumbled across your blog because you started following me, and I’m very glad to have done so. Your works are amazing and I learned about something I had never heard before, ‘Flash Fiction’. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

No problems, Rochelle, I am striding through Neil MacDonald’s Friday Fictioneer’s backlog at the moment, then I shall fish my comments out of Scrivener and resend…

PS Hope you’ll drop by and read one of mine. I don’t normally post two, but made an exception this week.

I have, Rochelle, both of them. I did that first, as you are our host. May I say, shalom, too?

Of course you may say shalom. A universal greeting. 😉 (I enjoy comments as much as the next person…unless you didn’t like…sorry for fishing).
